The Fruits of Following Our Conscience

(See previous posts since these truths build upon one another)

As we learn to follow our conscience consistently we show God that we are wise stewards over the communication He has given to our souls and we qualify for greater communication from Him and His servants (the Holy Ghost and angels).

We become purified and will fully receive the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost if we have first been baptised by those holding the priesthood of God.  Many people who have been baptised have yet to receive the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost because they have not been obedient to the guidance they have had since birth.  God blesses us line upon line and precept upon precept.  We will not qualify for and be granted the great privilege of having the Holy Ghost with us always if we have not been willing to listen to the small whisperings of our conscience.  Every good thought or good idea comes from God and when we make a commitment to follow every good thought we have (and repent of and fix the ones that nag at us) we are taking our conscience as a guide.

When we receive the Holy Ghost as our constant companion it is no small matter, it is an eternally life-changing experience.  To become a "new creature in Christ" literally means that you will become someone entirely different with a deeper eternal view of who you are and what your responsibilities are while here in mortality.

This is what happened to me, I took my conscience as my guide and then experienced a mighty-change of heart.  It has led our family down a much different path than we had ever anticipated which I will share in the coming posts.

Side Note:  Our conscience is also known as the "Light of Christ" or the "Holy Spirit" or the "Spirit of Christ" as referred to in the scriptures.
